Glenmorangie Unveils “A Tale of Ice Cream” Whisky: A Flavorful Journey

by Alice

Glenmorangie has introduced its latest creation, “A Tale of Ice Cream,” as part of its innovative series designed to evoke nostalgic flavors. While the whisky doesn’t taste exactly like ice cream, it captures the essence of its inspiration. Dr. Bill Lumsden, head of whisky creation, and master blender Gillian Macdonald drew from the enticing flavors of an ice cream parlor menu. To achieve this, they utilized specially toasted virgin casks to enhance the vanillin content, alongside traditional bourbon barrels. Lumsden described the result as a “whisky of melting decadence” with tasting notes of peach melba, lemon sorbet, and rich vanilla, making it a delight for the palate.

This release marks the fifth installment in the series, following previous editions like “A Tale of the Forest” and “A Tale of Cake.” Additionally, Glenmorangie has revamped its core lineup, introducing a 12-year-old expression to replace the former 10-year-old, and launching the Triple Cask Reserve, aged in a mix of bourbon, charred oak, and rye whiskey barrels. “A Tale of Ice Cream” is bottled at 46% ABV and is available for purchase at ReserveBar, alongside the entire Glenmorangie portfolio.
