Atlanta, GA — Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, a beloved ice cream brand with a 79-year legacy, is officially expanding its reach into Georgia with the opening of a new location in Midtown Atlanta. The store, located at Midtown Promenade (931 Monroe Dr. Northeast), will offer the brand’s signature handmade ice cream, crafted daily on-site, and is set to become a central part of the local community.
The grand opening, scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2024, will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m., followed by the store’s official opening to the public at 11 a.m. To celebrate, the first 100 guests in line will receive Free Ice Cream for a Year. The event will also feature a variety of family-friendly activities, including a Spin & Win wheel with exciting prizes, live DJ performances, cornhole, a photo booth, and an onsite radio broadcast from 680 The Fan.
Jennifer Schuler, CEO of Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, expressed her excitement about the brand’s expansion into Atlanta: “The greater Atlanta area is a major hub for foodies, and we’re thrilled to bring our award-winning, time-honored ice cream to a flourishing community. Our ice cream parlors become the centerpiece of family celebrations, and we can’t wait to introduce our fresh ingredients and nostalgic flavors to this vibrant city.”
The celebration continues throughout the weekend. On Friday, November 15, the first 100 guests will receive a free Handel’s tote bag. Additional activities, including face painting and more cornhole games, will take place through Sunday, November 17.
In addition to the festivities, the new store will feature unique artwork, including murals by local artists. Handel’s has partnered with Karen Anderson, the Atlanta-based artist and founder of Tiny Doors ATL, to create an interactive Tiny Doors installation for the store. Anderson is known for her creative and playful art installations across the city, and the new artwork will help solidify Handel’s place in Midtown’s vibrant arts scene.
Looking ahead, Handel’s plans to collaborate with Midtown High School’s Art Club and the non-profit Paint Love to create an upcoming outdoor mural at the store, further strengthening its ties to the community.
Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream has been serving handmade ice cream since 1945, offering a rotating selection of over 140 flavors, with 48 available daily. The brand’s commitment to fresh ingredients and high-quality ice cream has earned it recognition as one of America’s favorite ice cream chains, including accolades from Newsweek and Nation’s Restaurant News.
The Midtown Atlanta store will offer pick-up, delivery, and catering services, and will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
