PICKERINGTON, Ohio (WCMH) — Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, a family-owned business with a long-standing presence in central Ohio, is expanding to Pickerington with the opening of its eighth location in May. The new store will feature a unique rooftop patio, offering customers a scenic spot to enjoy a variety of ice cream flavors.
Located at 192 Hill North Road, the new ice cream shop will take over a former auto garage that has been part of the Pickerington community for many years. The 1,400-square-foot building is undergoing significant renovations, which will include the addition of a 678-square-foot rooftop patio and a 748-square-foot covered patio, enhancing the customer experience.
“As we approach our 75th anniversary, we’re excited to become part of the Pickerington community,” said Matt Wilcoxon, the fourth-generation owner of Johnson’s Real Ice Cream. “With its unique rooftop patio and inviting design, our new location offers a great space for friends and neighbors to connect and enjoy delicious ice cream.”
Founded in 1950 in Bexley, Johnson’s Real Ice Cream has grown over the years, with existing locations in New Albany, Italian Village, Grandview, Dublin, and Canal Winchester. The company is also preparing to open a location in Powell this spring. By spring 2025, Johnson’s plans to expand to eight stores, more than doubling its footprint from three locations at the start of 2024.
The ice cream parlor offers a wide range of popular flavors, including black raspberry chip, bubble gum, mango sorbet, and birthday cake. While the menu for the Pickerington location has not yet been announced, customers can expect the variety and quality that the business is known for at its other stores.
Johnson’s Real Ice Cream’s rapid expansion reflects its ongoing success and commitment to serving delicious treats to new communities across the region.
