Bruster’s Real Ice Cream has expanded its presence in the Rochester area with the opening of a new shop in Greece. The store, located at 824 Long Pond Road, opened its doors on Monday, December 2.
Situated next to a plaza anchored by Flight West Wine & Whiskey Bar and the Great American Diner, the new Bruster’s is offering a sweet addition to the local dining scene. This location follows the success of Bruster’s first Rochester-area shop, which opened in Irondequoit in September 2022.
Owner Jay Negrin, a 1993 graduate of Greece Athena High School, said the Greece location is larger than its Irondequoit counterpart. The 1,747-square-foot Greece store is about 300 square feet bigger and features a larger outdoor seating area for customers to enjoy during the warmer months. Bruster’s locations are designed without indoor seating, and customers can place orders at walk-up windows or through a drive-thru with two lanes, each featuring a lighted menu board.
The Greece shop will operate under winter hours from noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays until 9:30 p.m. Negrin, who manages a team of around 18 teenagers, noted that the shop’s staff is enthusiastic about providing high-quality service and products.
A graduate of SUNY Oswego and Drexel University, Negrin returned to the Rochester area after living in Miami, Florida, for 18 years. He previously owned a business with his wife, Katie, in Miami. The opening of the Greece Bruster’s marks the second location for Negrin, who continues to grow the franchise in the region.
Founded in 1989 in Bridgewater, Pennsylvania, Bruster’s serves ice cream made fresh at nearly 200 locations across 22 states, as well as in Guyana and South Korea. The company offers a rotating selection of 30 out of more than 150 ice cream recipes at any given time.
The Greece location is the second Bruster’s in the Rochester area; the only other location in the market is in Webster at 1041 Ridge Road, owned by a different franchisee.
