Van Leeuwen, the ice cream brand known for its unique and bold flavors, launched a limited-edition creation inspired by The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (RHOSLC) on Nov. 19. The launch event, held at the brand’s Rockefeller Center location, was attended by RHOSLC stars Angie Katsanevas, Mary Cosby, and Bronwyn Newport. The venue was transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with fake snow, glittery snowflakes, and iconic RHOSLC quotes, setting the stage for a VIP and media tasting event.
A standout feature of the event was a sign showcasing an adaptation of Heather Gay’s famous season four quote: “Receipts. Scoops. Timelines. Screenshots.”
The flavor, named SLC Scoop, is a visually striking lavender ice cream with salted caramel pieces.
Ben Van Leeuwen, co-founder and CEO of Van Leeuwen, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “We’re excited to partner with The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City to create a flavor that reflects the fun nature of the show. We can’t wait for fans to try this limited-edition ice cream that brings together ingredients as dynamic and unforgettable as the show itself!”
The RHOSLC stars present at the event enjoyed the new flavor. Cosby, who typically avoids sugar, admitted to indulging in the ice cream and felt it captured the essence of the show’s cast. “The salty caramel lavender ice just matches Salt Lake City’s housewives because that’s what we are — salty and savory, but yet there’s a lavender side,” she said.
Katsanevas, a fan of bubblegum ice cream, was eager to try something more refined. “I’ve never been a salty ice cream girl, but this one with the caramel looks sweet and salty, so it’s perfect,” she shared.
Newport appreciated the balance of salt and lavender but noted that it could have been a bit saltier to better reflect her own personality. “I think it could be a little saltier if it was going to portray me, but as an average of the cast, it’s a good amount of salty,” she explained.
For those curious about the flavor, the ice cream presents a sweet base with a hint of vanilla. The lavender is subtle but noticeable, making it a great option even for those who aren’t typically fond of floral flavors. The salted caramel pieces provide an additional layer of flavor, though more caramel would enhance the experience further. The creamy consistency and slow melt of the ice cream, along with its striking lavender hue, complete the indulgent treat.
Fans of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and ice cream enthusiasts alike can find the SLC Scoop at Van Leeuwen shops nationwide while supplies last.
