The Buza ice cream chain, a beloved brand born in Kibbutz Sasa and celebrated for its unique Galilee-inspired flavors, has announced its full return to operations in northern Israel. After temporarily closing branches at the start of the recent conflict, the chain is now resuming activities in the region and unveiling ambitious plans for future expansion.
With ten branches across the country, Buza has reopened its Sasa and Gome Junction locations, marking a significant step in its recovery. Founded in 2012, the chain currently operates six branches in the North, including Kibbutz Sasa, Gome Junction, Tarshiha, Tivon, Haifa, and an upcoming location in Kiryat Motzkin. Additionally, it runs four branches in other parts of Israel: Tel Aviv, Binyamina, Yad Mordechai, and the Dead Sea.
Buza’s ice creams are crafted at its factory in Kibbutz Sasa, where over 100 unique, handmade flavors are produced using fresh, high-quality ingredients. Each branch offers 20-24 rotating flavors weekly, featuring innovative options such as Cashew Kashiopea, Rich Pistachio, Ras El Hanout (a blend of Galilean spices), Sea Chocolate, Beirut Nights, and Knafeh Ice Cream. The chain also caters to diverse dietary preferences with natural sorbets, vegan ice creams, and sugar-free alternatives.
Gil Kishenovsky, CEO of Buza, reflected on the challenges faced during the conflict: “Businesses in the North, including ours, were severely impacted. We had to immediately close two of our ten branches. People were evacuated from their homes and workplaces, and only now are we beginning to restore full operations. Despite the immense difficulties caused by the war, we refuse to let it defeat us. Buza is committed to moving forward and supporting our communities.”
Looking ahead, Buza plans to open two new branches in the North by 2025. One will be located in Kibbutz Kabri near Nahariya, and the other in the Daphna’le complex near Kiryat Shmona—areas that have been particularly affected by the conflict. Kishenovsky emphasized the chain’s mission of coexistence, stating, “Our ice cream, born from the spirit of unity, will prevail. We also extend our heartfelt hope for the swift release of all 100 hostages held in Gaza.”
Buza’s resurgence symbolizes not only the resilience of local businesses but also the enduring spirit of the Galilee region, as it continues to recover and rebuild.
