Milk Sugar Love Creamery Expands to Asbury Park with New Flagship Location

by Alice

Asbury Park, NJ – Milk Sugar Love Creamery, the beloved Jersey City-based ice cream shop, is set to open a new flagship location at 1319 Memorial Drive in Asbury Park in June 2025. The new shop, triple the size of its original Jersey City store, promises an immersive ice cream experience with an industrial kitchen, a walk-up window, and counter seating for customers to watch their desserts being made.

Founded in 2014 by Emma Taylor, Milk Sugar Love Creamery has grown from a humble ice cream cart to a celebrated family business, earning second place on NJ.com’s list of the state’s best ice cream. The Asbury Park location marks a significant milestone in the company’s decade-long journey.

“It’s been 10 years of Milk Sugar Love, and I still deeply believe in what we’re doing—making inventive and delicious ice cream from scratch using locally sourced, all-natural ingredients,” Taylor told The Local Girl.

The new shop will feature a menu blending classic favorites with innovative creations. Patrons can enjoy hard and soft-serve ice cream, fresh-baked pastries, and signature flavors like guava cream cheese and lemon olive oil. The spacious layout includes an open kitchen concept, allowing up to 12 guests to sit at counter seats and witness the ice cream-making process firsthand.

Taylor’s move to Asbury Park two and a half years ago inspired the expansion. Immersed in the local food and music scene, she envisioned a modern yet nostalgic space that combines classic soda fountain charm with contemporary design. The shop will also offer café-style seating and a front-row view of the ice cream production.

In addition to the new location, Milk Sugar Love Creamery is partnering with Berg’s Smoked Meat in Belmar for a special collaboration. Starting January 25, 2025, the two local businesses will debut their first joint creation: Berg’s Caraway Crunch ice cream flavor. This partnership is the first of many planned collaborations with local food artisans.

Looking ahead, Taylor has her sights set on Hoboken for future expansion. For now, the original Jersey City location remains open at 19 McWilliams Place in the Hamilton Park neighborhood.

With its commitment to quality, creativity, and community, Milk Sugar Love Creamery continues to solidify its reputation as a must-visit destination for ice cream lovers across New Jersey.
