Michigan Cream and Sugar Ice Cream Company is set to open a new scoop shop and production facility in Old Town Saginaw on March 18, marking a significant expansion for the local ice cream maker.
The new Saginaw location will operate Tuesday through Sunday, with hours from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, extended to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and closing at 9 p.m. on Sundays.
This expanded facility will serve as the company’s primary production hub, replacing its previous 261-square-foot site in Bay City with a much larger 1,857-square-foot space. General Manager Tim Mangan emphasized that the move will enhance production capabilities while preserving the company’s focus on small-batch ice cream made from locally sourced ingredients, including Pioneer sugar and milk from Michigan dairies.
“We are thrilled to bring our small-batch, locally sourced ice cream to the City of Saginaw,” Mangan said. “Our new state-of-the-art production facility will allow us to prepare world-class ice cream in small batches, featuring a full lineup of signature and limited-edition flavors.”
The March menu will feature seasonal options such as Blueberry Pie, Espresso Buzz, Grapefruit Sorbet, Midnight Strawberry, Peppermint Phoebe, Peppermint Oreo, Secret Stash, and Strawberry Cheesecake.
Founded in 2019 in Bay City, Michigan Cream and Sugar is a collaboration between the HORIZONS Conference Center and Michigan Sugar Company. The company is committed to supporting Michigan farm families by sourcing local ingredients for its handcrafted ice cream.
