ORLANDO, Fla. — One of the oldest ice cream shops in the United States is bringing its unique treat to Orlando next month. The Original Rainbow Cone, which has been serving up its signature ice cream since the 1920s, will open its newest location in the city on Friday, March 7.
The grand opening celebration will take place at 10:45 a.m. at the shop’s new location at 461 North Alafaya Trail in the Waterford Lakes Town Center. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark the start of the event, where the first 99 guests will receive a complimentary “Rainbow Cone” in honor of the shop’s upcoming 100th anniversary.
The Rainbow Cone is known for its distinctive five-layer creation, which features chocolate, strawberry, Palmer House (a vanilla ice cream mixed with cherries and walnuts), pistachio, and orange sherbet. Unlike traditional scooped cones, the flavors are layered in slices to deliver a unique blend of textures and tastes with each bite.
This new Orlando location adds to The Original Rainbow Cone’s Florida footprint, joining existing shops in Key West and near Tampa.
