Max’s Best Ice Cream to Bring Sweet Treats and Meaningful Jobs to Bethesda

by Alice

A father-son duo is preparing to sweeten up Bethesda with a new ice cream parlor that combines delicious treats with a mission of kindness. Max’s Best Ice Cream, set to open later this year, promises more than just indulgent cones and sundaes—it’s also dedicated to providing meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities.

Located at 7770 Woodmont Avenue, in the space previously occupied by The Blue House, the new shop will be owned and operated by Max and Cory Alexander. The Alexanders are partnering with Best Buddies International, a nonprofit that works to create opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, to staff the shop. Cory Alexander expressed his excitement about the collaboration, saying, “We are thrilled and honored to be partnering with Best Buddies here locally. The roles that individuals with [intellectual and developmental disabilities] will have will be very meaningful roles.”

Max’s Best Ice Cream will feature premium ice cream from Vanderwende’s Creamery, which will be used to craft everything from cones and dishes to sundaes and extreme milkshakes.

While the shop’s exact opening date remains to be confirmed, the Alexanders are aiming to open their doors by early summer. Once operational, Max’s Best Ice Cream will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., providing Bethesda locals with a sweet spot to enjoy delicious ice cream while supporting a good cause.
