Connor Middleton, a keen ice cream enthusiast, always makes sure to snap pictures of his frozen treats while on holiday. However, during his recent excursion, he got more than just a photo-op.
While enjoying a visit to Llanudno, one of the town’s seagulls decided to make a bold move, swooping down and snatching his £3.90 cookie-and-cream cone just as he clicked the shutter button. It was an unexpected turn of events that left Connor with a memorable addition to his collection of ice cream snapshots from British seaside resorts.
Describing the incident, Connor, hailing from Shrewsbury, admitted, “There were a lot of gulls hovering around. But I was naive not to think one would actually swoop down and take it from my hand!” He recounted the moment to North Wales Live, adding, “My girlfriend is terrified of seagulls and she did warn me about taking a picture. Before I knew it, it was gone! It took the ice-cream scoop and all I was left with was the cone. What a waste of £3.90!”
Upon reviewing his photos, Connor and his girlfriend were met with astonishment. “We couldn’t believe our eyes,” he remarked.
A perfectly timed shot captured the cheeky seagull in the midst of its thieving act against the picturesque backdrop of Llandudno’s Grand Hotel.
Reflecting on the humorous encounter, Connor confessed, “I just laughed. It was completely accidental. I have photos of ice creams at the beach at Barmouth, Tenby, Mumbles, and Troon, and I’ve never had an issue. The seagulls at Llandudno are just on the ball! Lesson learned.”
