A Cornish ice cream producer, Callestick Farm, is marking a milestone of 25 years supplying the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) with their signature Clotted Cream Vanilla ice cream.
The partnership began in 1999 when a dedicated catering professional initiated a project to deliver a tub of Callestick Farm’s specially developed ice cream to patients at RCHT. Over the years, Callestick Farm has provided 1.3 million tubs of ice cream to patients across three Cornish hospitals.
“Bringing joy to patients with our ice cream tubs has been a source of pride for us over the past 25 years, and we hope to continue this tradition for many more years,” said Sebastian Parker, Managing Director of Callestick Farm.
Helen Tyler, Senior Facilities Manager at RCHT, emphasized the importance of their collaboration with Callestick Farm. “Our partnership with Callestick Farm is highly valued. At RCHT, we prioritize supporting local businesses, with over 50% of our suppliers being local to Cornwall. Local procurement is essential for sustainability, and we invest as much as possible in local partnerships.”
When new packaging regulations were introduced as part of the NHS Net Zero plan, Callestick Farm adapted by redesigning their packaging to meet the new standards, ensuring their partnership with RCHT could continue seamlessly.
To commemorate this 25-year collaboration, Callestick Farm is teaming up with the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity to raise funds. This summer, ten pence from every scoop of Clotted Cream Vanilla ice cream sold at the Callestick Ice Cream Parlour, located near Truro, will be donated to support the charity’s efforts in assisting patients and families during treatment.
