MIAMI — Miami’s dessert scene has just become a major attraction with the grand opening of the Museum of Ice Cream. This innovative, multi-sensory exhibit promises to delight visitors with its unique blend of art, theater, and ice cream.
CBS News Miami received an exclusive preview of the museum ahead of its opening day. Co-founder Manish Vora, who led the tour, shared insights into the museum’s origins. “We started eight years ago with a pop-up in New York City,” Vora said. “We combined art, theater, and ice cream to create the first Museum of Ice Cream.”
The Miami location, the fifth in the Museum of Ice Cream’s global expansion, spans 14,000 square feet across two floors within the Miami World Center. This new addition reflects Miami’s growing cultural scene. “This is a new museum quarter,” Vora noted. “With institutions like the Perez Art Museum Miami and the Frost Museum, Miami has become a vibrant cultural hub, and we’re excited to be part of that evolution.”
Visitors to the museum begin their experience aboard the “Cream Liner,” a vintage ‘60s-style airplane that transports them into a whimsical world. After a playful “bumpy” landing in Frosty Land, guests are greeted with a complimentary creamsicle.
The museum features a variety of interactive exhibits, including:
Cream Liner: A retro airplane experience.
Banana Jungle: An immersive jungle adventure.
Ice Cream Scoop Whac-A-Mole: A playful twist on the classic game.
Double Helix Slide: A thrilling slide experience.
Sprinkle Pool: The world-famous pool filled with colorful sprinkles.
While the museum may not house traditional artworks like Picasso’s, it offers a different kind of creative expression — a delightful fusion of art, imagination, and the joy of ice cream.
