by Alice

Heap’s Ice Cream has officially opened its doors on 7th Avenue in Park Slope, bringing a variety of homemade flavors to the neighborhood. Owned by local resident Matt Lieber and managed by Jessica Mitchell, the new scoop shop features 16 unique flavors, including Coffee Toffee, Banana Bourbon Caramel, Mango Sticky Rice, and classic options like Mint Chip and Chocolate.

“Our ice cream contains no fillers or unpronounceable chemicals; everything is clean labeled,” Mitchell stated, emphasizing the quality of their product. The shop is named in honor of Lieber’s grandmother, reflecting a deep personal connection to the beloved treat.

Mitchell, who has a poignant history with ice cream, shared, “Growing up in the foster care system, my sister and I would always celebrate transitions with ice cream outings. It continues to be a source of togetherness for us.” To foster community, Heap’s offers complimentary ice cream on customers’ birthdays.
