Kansas City, Mo. (KCTV) – A beloved local ice cream shop is expanding its reach while creating more job opportunities for individuals with special needs.
The Golden Scoop, known for its mission to provide meaningful employment to people with developmental disabilities, has announced that its pints of ice cream will now be available at Queen’s Price Chopper, located just west of W. 151st Street and Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park.
“We are beyond excited to take this next step in our journey,” said Amber Schreiber, Co-Founder of The Golden Scoop. “Expanding into grocery retail means more than just selling ice cream—it’s about expanding our impact, creating more opportunities for our Super Scoopers to grow and thrive.”
The ice cream pints will hit shelves on Thursday, October 10, with shoppers able to choose from seven distinct flavors. Each pint will be priced at $6.79.
The Golden Scoop first opened its doors in Overland Park in April 2021. Last month, the business expanded further with the opening of a second location at 103rd Street and 69 Highway.
By moving into grocery retail, The Golden Scoop aims to continue its mission of fostering inclusivity while offering delicious, locally-made ice cream.
