Paul Lyell, an ice cream seller in Hull, is spreading joy this Halloween by giving away free ice cream. Having purchased his ice cream van two years ago, Paul transitioned from his previous business in the candy industry to focus on serving delightful 99s.
With the summer season ending and demand for ice cream dwindling, Paul seeks to give back to the community that has embraced him. He plans to offer two hours of complimentary ice cream to local children.
In an interview with Hull Live, Paul shared his commitment to community service, noting his past efforts to feed the homeless with sandwiches and hot drinks. Inspired by children asking for treats at his van, he decided to host this giveaway at Swanland playing field.
Paul, who began his career in window cleaning and later operated a bouncy castle hire company, is now fully dedicated to ice cream. “I just want to go into the ice cream,” he expressed, highlighting the joy it brings to the community.
Looking forward to the event, Paul is prepared for a large turnout, stating, “I’ve stocked up on ice cream, cones, Flakes—we should have enough!”
P&L Whippies will be at Swanland playing fields today, October 31, distributing free ice cream from 5 PM to 7 PM.
