BELLINGHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Chevy’s Ice Cream is transforming Halloween into a community spectacle with a striking seasonal display that aims to bring joy to locals.
Owner Shayna Murray shared that her father opened the shop in 2012 as a way to gain recognition in the community. The ambitious Halloween display, which has returned after a hiatus, reflects the shop’s commitment to celebrating the holiday and uniting the community, particularly following an incident in April when a plow truck damaged the store’s sign and fence.
“We are so grateful that nobody got hurt,” Murray stated. “Our customers mean the world to us, and after that accident, we realized just how important our community is.”
The display took six weeks to assemble, involving four adults who dedicated significant time and effort to the project. David Dean, a volunteer from Woonsocket, noted the mix of challenges and enjoyment during the setup. “There were frustrating days, but seeing it all come together was incredible,” he said.
The Murray family has noticed a positive response from the community, with large crowds drawn to the display. “People come with their cameras; we have to chain off the parking lot at night because the turnout is so high,” John Murray remarked.
Chevy’s Ice Cream will officially close for the season on November 8, inviting everyone to come and experience the festive atmosphere before it ends.
