Melrose, CA — Dayglow Coffee and Awan, a plant-based ice cream brand, have officially reopened after being closed for several weeks due to necessary construction repairs at both locations. The popular businesses are now back to business, with Dayglow holding a soft reopening this past weekend, offering free coffee, lattes, and espresso to customers on Saturday.
Today, Dayglow is temporarily closed for restocking and preparation ahead of its full return tomorrow, Tuesday, November 5. From then on, the coffee shop will resume regular operating hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., every day.
Owner Tohm Ifergan expressed his excitement about the reopening, sharing his enthusiasm in a conversation with Buzz writer Joanne McLaughlin. “We’re thrilled to be back,” Ifergan said, adding that the extended closure had not been anticipated. During the downtime, Dayglow continued to serve loyal customers from their mobile coffee truck.
The Melrose location, which serves as Dayglow’s flagship, is known for its curated selection of global coffee brands, drawing both local and international coffee enthusiasts.
Just next door, Awan — the plant-based ice cream shop co-founded by Ifergan and Australian native Zen Ong — will reopen this week, operating Wednesday through Sunday. Awan plans to extend its hours to seven days a week later this month.
Since its founding, Awan has carved a niche in the plant-based dessert scene, offering a refreshing and indulgent alternative for those with dietary preferences or restrictions. The reopening of both businesses marks a significant milestone for the neighborhood, with both brands hopeful that customers will return to enjoy their offerings once again.
