Discontinued food items often leave fans lamenting the ones they never knew would be their last. For many, this rings true for treats like Flintstone Push Pops—iconic frozen novelties that vanished as quickly as they arrived. I still crave the creamy, orange-flavored ice cream in a toilet paper roll, which was a childhood staple whenever the ice cream truck came around. Alongside them, other nostalgic favorites such as Jell-O Pudding Pops and Good Humor’s Candy Center Crunch ice cream bars have also disappeared from the freezer aisles.
Candy Center Crunch, a delightful combination of vanilla ice cream, chocolate, and crispy rice bits—wrapped around a solid chocolate candy bar core—was a popular choice for many. It offered a sweet fusion of candy bar and ice cream, and became a must-have treat for kids during ice cream truck visits. However, the iconic treat was discontinued, and although Good Humor recently confirmed that there are no immediate plans for a revival, fans can still petition the brand for a potential return.
This isn’t the first time a beloved ice cream has seen a possible revival after being discontinued. Klondike’s Choco Taco, discontinued in 2022 after a 40-year run, sparked a fan outcry. Though efforts to bring it back have yet to materialize, the collaboration between Taco Bell and Salt & Straw in 2024 to reimagine the dessert taco has sparked renewed interest. In a similar vein, Blue Bell Ice Cream recently announced the return of two fan-favorite flavors—Groom’s Cake and Cookie Cake—in 2025, after voters made their preferences known.
Good Humor itself brought a moment of joy to ’90s kids when it resurrected Viennetta ice cream in 2021, a product shelved for 30 years. The elegant dessert, which layered ice cream and chocolate, had captured the imaginations of many—though it often disappointed in its actual size.
While it’s uncertain whether Candy Center Crunch will return, the success of these previous comebacks offers hope. Fans of the treat may just need to hold on a little longer—and make their voices heard.
