A car crash early Friday morning severely damaged Tiny’s Tasty Treats, a beloved ice cream shop in Newaygo, Michigan. According to the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO), the incident occurred just before 2:45 a.m. when a vehicle traveling south on M-37 lost control after hitting a bridge divider. The car then collided with the northwest corner of the shop with significant force.
The crash caused substantial damage to the building, though authorities reported that the driver sustained only minor injuries. The driver was transported to Spectrum Health in Fremont for medical treatment, NCSO officials confirmed.
Deputies stated that there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation. The NCSO provided updates through a Facebook post, with Undersheriff Chad Palmiter confirming the details of the incident.
In response to the accident, Tiny’s Tasty Treats expressed concern for the driver’s well-being in a Facebook statement, reassuring the community that the shop’s building would be repaired. The statement also acknowledged the shop’s long-standing proximity to the road, noting, “Over the years, the road was brought to the building.” Despite the damage, the business expressed gratitude for the support from the local community following the incident.
