Longarone, Italy – The highly anticipated 62nd edition of the Mostra Internazionale del Gelato (Mig) is set to return to Longarone Fiere Dolomiti from November 27 to 30, bringing together over 130 companies from 12 Italian regions and 11 foreign countries. This year’s four-day event, dedicated to the world of artisan ice cream, will showcase the latest innovations in machinery, ingredients, and sustainability practices, while celebrating the traditions of Italy’s iconic cold dessert.

The first day of the fair will be open to the public, offering ice cream enthusiasts and professionals alike the opportunity to explore new flavors and techniques. Visitors will be able to sample cutting-edge ice cream varieties, as well as classic gelato made with eco-friendly, energy-efficient methods. One of the key themes of this year’s event is sustainability, with a focus on the industry’s efforts to combat rising energy costs and reduce its environmental impact.

New Trends and Products on Display

Among the novelties at this year’s exhibition is the inclusion of granita, a traditional Sicilian frozen dessert, alongside artisan gelato. The “Arcipelago Sicilia” area will feature a selection of typical island granitas, while also addressing the challenges of climate change and its effects on ice cream production. Another highlight is the introduction of therapeutic and medicinal ice cream, led by renowned vegan ice chef Maurizio Valguarnera from Palermo, who will explore the potential health benefits of frozen desserts.

Celebrating Tradition and Innovation

Mig will also host its usual array of prestigious competitions and awards. The Coppa d’Oro, the Gelato a Due competition, where chefs and gelato makers collaborate to create a dish and dessert, and the Mastri Gelatieri award, will all return to the event. Additionally, Confartigianato’s confectionery and chocolate stand will offer live demonstrations and the popular Una Pralina in Gelateria competition, where artisans compete to create the best gelato-filled pralines.

A Regional Showcase

The event’s opening ceremony will take place on Sunday, November 27, at 11:30 am, with Veneto Governor Luca Zaia attending to cut the ribbon. The Veneto region will have its own dedicated stand, offering a taste of local specialties, including ice cream made with regional products and flavors that highlight the area’s gastronomic excellence.

With its blend of tradition, innovation, and a commitment to sustainability, the 62nd edition of Mig promises to be a rich and delicious celebration of all things artisan ice cream.
