SAN ANTONIO, TX — Drew Glick, the owner of the beloved Max & Louie’s New York Diner, is continuing his family’s culinary tradition with the opening of a new venture, Melvin’s. Named in honor of his late father, Melvin Glick, the shop will open its doors this morning at 6 a.m. next door to Max & Louie’s, located at 226 West Bitters Road.
Melvin’s promises to be a colorful addition to the neighborhood, featuring a 12-bay ice cream counter offering an array of flavors, a full coffee bar, and a bakery managed by a well-known local talent. The shop will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
In a heartfelt nod to his father, Drew has ensured that the new ice cream shop will always serve one special flavor: Mel-O-Mar, a unique blend of handmade chocolate ganache ice cream, graham crackers, and homemade marshmallows. The flavor was inspired by Melvin’s fondness for Mallomars, a beloved treat his father kept in the freezer. Drew Glick explained that Mel-O-Mar “was something my dad always had around the house,” and now it will have a permanent place at Melvin’s.
