A celebrated ice cream brand from India, Dumont Creamery & Cafe, has officially arrived in the United States, opening two locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The chain, originally founded in Hyderabad, India, has chosen Texas as the starting point for its U.S. expansion.
Dumont Creamery’s first U.S. location debuted in late 2023 at 1951 FM 423 in Frisco. Shortly after, a second outpost opened in Coppell at 1535 S. Belt Line Rd. #160 in late October.
The brand was established in 1999 by brothers Vivek and Bhashkaar and has become a staple in India, with 23 locations across cities such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Vijayawada. Its U.S. introduction is spearheaded by local franchisees Sai Sashank and Tarang Tirumala, longtime friends who moved to the United States in 2005 for college and later pursued successful careers in consulting. Driven by a longing for familiar flavors from home, the duo brought Dumont to Texas.
A World of Flavors
Dumont Creamery centers on its wide array of ice creams, offering more than two dozen flavors that blend global influences with classic favorites. Alongside staples like vanilla, chocolate, and mint chocolate chip, Dumont boasts unique creations such as:
Cake and Jam: A vanilla-based ice cream mixed with pieces of cake and spiced jam.
Kheer: A coconut ice cream with dried fruits and nuts, inspired by the traditional Indian rice pudding.
Hokey Pokey: A honey ice cream influenced by a popular dessert from New Zealand.
A single scoop is priced at $4, and customers can choose between cups or Dumont’s signature waffle cones, which are designed shorter and fatter for an optimal ice cream-to-cone ratio.
Beyond Ice Cream
Dumont’s offerings extend beyond frozen treats. The menu includes a variety of beverages, such as coffee and espresso drinks, boba tea, and unique options like falooda, a rose-flavored Indian milkshake with vermicelli. A standout addition is the iced kheer, a chilled drink inspired by the dessert.
Vibrant Atmosphere
Both locations are designed to provide a welcoming and vibrant experience. The Frisco space features pale green banquettes, while Coppell offers pale blue furniture and a mural commemorating local history. An astronaut theme ties both locations together, with statues, framed cartoons, and photographs contributing to a playful ambiance.
Dumont Creamery’s arrival in Texas marks an exciting fusion of Indian-inspired flavors and a globally appealing ice cream experience, promising to be a sweet addition to the Dallas culinary scene.
