Two local ice cream shops, Two Roosters and Andia’s, recently earned national acclaim for their distinctive and award-winning flavors at the annual North American Ice Cream Association (NAICA) conference in Savannah, Georgia.
Andia’s, which opened in Cary in 2017, took home first place in the regular ice cream category for its innovative Mango Jalapeño Margarita flavor. The dessert is a vibrant mix of spicy lime sorbet swirled with mango ice cream, complemented by house-made candied jalapeños and a sprinkle of Tajin seasoning.
Two Roosters, with locations in Raleigh, Durham, and Wake Forest, received two second-place awards. The shop’s Earl Grey and Lemon Cookie Dough flavor, recognized in the regular ice cream category, is a creative twist on the classic “London Fog” tea. Founder Jared Plummer, a North Carolina State University graduate, described the flavor as “uber-quality black tea with hints of bergamot and lavender,” paired with chunks of Southern Sugar lemon cookie dough.
The second of Two Roosters’ awards came in the non-dairy frozen dessert category for its Non-Dairy Cookie Butter flavor. This indulgent treat features an Oatly (oat milk) base mixed with crumbled Biscoff cookies, offering a delicious, dairy-free option for ice cream lovers.
The prestigious awards were announced at the annual CONECON conference, attended by nearly 1,000 ice cream business owners nationwide. Both Andia’s and Two Roosters stood out from hundreds of entries to earn their accolades.
Andia’s has a history of award-winning flavors. Its French Vanilla flavor recently secured its third blue ribbon, while the shop’s Double Dark Chocolate flavor has won four blue ribbons in previous years.
The recognition also earned Andia’s co-founder and CEO, Andia Xouris, qualification for the Grand Master Ice Cream Maker Award—an honor held by only five chefs in North America.
These accolades further cement the reputation of both Andia’s and Two Roosters as leaders in the world of artisanal ice cream, showcasing their creativity and commitment to quality.
