Dumont Creamery & Café, an ice cream chain from Hyderabad, India, has launched its first U.S. locations in North Texas, bringing a unique selection of frozen treats and beverages to the area. The chain, known for its creative flavors and specialty drinks, opened two stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex: the first in Frisco at 1951 FM 423 in late 2023, and the second in Coppell at 1535 S. Belt Line Rd. #160 just last month.
Founded in 1999 by brothers Vivek and Bhaskar Inampudi, Dumont has grown into a local favorite in India, with nearly two dozen locations in Hyderabad alone. The North Texas expansion marks the brand’s first venture into the U.S. market.
Dumont’s website promises a “Willy Wonka’s flavor extravaganza,” showcasing a wide range of ice cream offerings, from classic options to more adventurous varieties. The chain is renowned for its bold and unusual flavor combinations, including maple & cinnamon shortbread, mandarin orange sorbet, and mascarpone raspberry. According to the company, it has developed over 250 unique flavors, with its state-of-the-art production facility churning out more than 2,000 liters of ice cream per hour.
In addition to ice cream, Dumont serves an assortment of bubble teas, such as taro and horchata milk teas, as well as a variety of coffee drinks, including Americanos and flat whites. One of its standout offerings is falooda, a traditional milkshake made with vermicelli and rose syrup.
Dumont’s decision to open its first U.S. locations in North Texas is likely a strategic one, given the area’s growing Indian American community. With around 220,000 Indian Americans in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, a demographic that has expanded rapidly in recent years, the chain has tapped into a market that may already be familiar with its offerings. Over the past decade, the Indian American population in the region has surged from 3.8% to 7.5% of the total population, and the area has seen a steady influx of Indian restaurants and grocery stores.
For those eager to try Dumont’s offerings, a single scoop of ice cream is priced at $4. The brand’s distinctive mix of flavors and drinks is expected to attract both adventurous foodies and those seeking a taste of home in the heart of North Texas.
