Dippin’ Dots, widely known as the “Ice Cream of the Future,” is expanding its footprint beyond amusement parks and entertainment venues with a major debut in grocery stores. After years of delighting fans with its signature beaded ice cream, the Kentucky-based brand is now offering its unique frozen treat to home freezers for the very first time.
Starting in early 2025, Dippin’ Dots Sundaes will be available at Kroger stores, with a wider rollout planned throughout the year. These new sundaes will feature three layers of ice cream, blending the brand’s signature cryogenically frozen beads with classic and whimsical flavors. The first two varieties will be Cookies ‘N Cream and Cotton Candy, each designed to bring a new level of excitement to frozen desserts.
The Cookies ‘N Cream Sundae will combine crunchy chocolate cookie pieces with creamy vanilla ice cream and a topping of smooth chocolate. The Cotton Candy Sundae offers a playful twist, featuring Cotton Candy Dippin’ Dots with cookie pieces as the base, topped with vibrant blue cotton candy ice cream and a swirl of birthday cake-flavored topping.
This grocery store release marks a milestone for Dippin’ Dots, as the company has traditionally faced challenges in making its ice cream available at temperatures above the ultra-low -40°F needed to preserve its iconic beaded shape. However, the new sundaes will be adjusted for standard grocery freezers, sparking curiosity among fans about the potential impact on texture.
While some expressed concerns about the texture, wondering if the dots would clump together in a regular freezer, the excitement from fans seems to outweigh these questions. One enthusiast on social media summed it up perfectly, saying, “I need these so bad I don’t even care if the dots all stick together.”
As the brand continues to innovate, Dippin’ Dots is set to bring its futuristic treat to a broader audience, combining nostalgia with novelty to satisfy ice cream lovers everywhere.
