TOPSAIL BEACH — Scoops Microcreamery, a local ice cream shop in Topsail Beach, has been awarded a prestigious Red Ribbon at the 2024 National Ice Cream Awards, hosted by the North American Ice Cream Association. The recognition came for their Classic Organic Strawberry flavor, which stood out in a highly competitive field at this year’s event.
The awards ceremony, held annually, brings together ice cream professionals and dessert entrepreneurs from across the country. This year’s event took place at the Savannah Convention Center in Savannah, Georgia, and featured a series of highly anticipated ice cream flavor and quality competitions.
Scoops Microcreamery, owned by mother-daughter duo Andrea Agostinetti and Kayla Iwaskiw, impressed judges with their commitment to quality and flavor. The judging process, described as rigorous by the Greater Topsail Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, was overseen by Sam Alcaine, a respected dairy scientist from Cornell University. The panel of judges included experienced ice cream business owners who evaluated the entries for their flavor, texture, and overall quality.
“We are thrilled and honored to receive this recognition,” said Agostinetti. “It’s a testament to the hard work and passion we put into every batch of ice cream.”
Located at 714 South Anderson Boulevard in Topsail Beach, Scoops Microcreamery is preparing to expand with a new shop set to open soon in Sneads Ferry.
The National Ice Cream Awards are considered one of the most prestigious recognitions in the ice cream industry, celebrating the craftsmanship and creativity of ice cream makers across North America.
