Lickety Splits Ice Cream, a beloved local establishment in business for 35 years, has been listed for sale at $475,000. The shop, known for its diverse selection of soft serve and hard ice cream, as well as Coney Island-style hot dogs, hamburgers, chili, and clam cakes, is being sold along with its property.
Owner Mark Pietrzyk, who has operated the business on State Road, told 12 News that both the business and the property are available for purchase. However, he noted that while there has been significant interest in the shop, some prospective buyers are not interested in continuing it as an ice cream business, preferring instead to transform the location into a different type of food service operation.
At 60 years old, Pietrzyk explained that the demands of running the shop have become overwhelming. “I’m in my 60s and still find myself working over 80 hours a week during the season because of the lack of reliable help,” he said, adding that his children, now grown and living out of state, are unable to assist with the business.
The property is advertised as a “commercial gem” in a high-traffic area, with the potential for “endless money-making possibilities.” The sale includes both the property and restaurant equipment, which will be sold in “as-is” condition.
If the shop is not sold by March, Pietrzyk plans to open Lickety Splits for its 35th season, although he remains uncertain about the business’s future beyond that.
