In this week’s edition of Sammy’s Southern Stops, Sammy heads to Debbie’s Snowballs and Ice Cream, a beloved local treat shop known for its homemade ice cream and nostalgic desserts. Located in the heart of the community, the shop has been serving up a variety of frozen delicacies for the past 18 years, drawing both locals and visitors with its unique offerings and commitment to quality.
Founded nearly two decades ago, Debbie’s Snowballs is famed for its wide selection of homemade ice creams and other frozen treats. Customers can indulge in a range of desserts, including snowballs, sundaes, parfaits, milkshakes, and floats, all made with fresh ingredients and custom flavors.
Rebecca Minter, co-owner of the shop, shared that their most popular items include the banana pudding sundae and strawberry cheesecake sundae. “As for our ice cream, our homemade vanilla is a customer favorite,” she said. “It’s a rich, creamy yellow vanilla that surprises people at first, but it’s truly top-notch. Our butter pecan also sees a surge in popularity during the colder months, and our strawberry ice cream is packed with real, fresh strawberries.”
Known for their dedication to staying open year-round, Debbie’s Snowballs and Ice Cream strives to be a sweet escape for anyone in need of a dessert fix, even during winter. “Though business slows down a bit when the weather turns colder, we’re one of the few places that remain open throughout the winter,” Minter explained. “We’re proud to offer not just ice cream, but seasonal favorites like butter pecan and frosted coffee, along with hot cocoa and coffee during the colder months.”
While the summer months bring in the biggest crowds, the shop’s commitment to year-round service ensures that patrons can always count on a homemade treat, no matter the season.
Whether you’re craving a classic vanilla cone or a refreshing Oreo milkshake, Debbie’s Snowballs and Ice Cream offers something for every taste.
