In this week’s edition of Sammy’s Southern Stops, local food enthusiast Sammy explores the delicious world of homemade treats at Debbie’s Snowballs and Ice Cream, a beloved sweet shop that has been serving up frozen delights for nearly two decades.
Founded 18 years ago, Debbie’s Snowballs offers an extensive menu of handcrafted desserts, including snowballs, sundaes, parfaits, shakes, frosty’s, and ice cream floats. Each treat is made with a variety of fresh ingredients, ensuring that there’s something for every taste.
Rebecca Minter, co-owner of the shop, shared that their most popular sundaes are the Banana Pudding and Strawberry Cheesecake varieties. When it comes to ice cream, their homemade vanilla stands out as a fan favorite, despite its distinctive yellow hue, which sometimes surprises new customers. “It’s homemade vanilla, and it’s just top notch,” Minter explained. The shop’s Butter Pecan flavor is also a seasonal favorite, particularly during the winter months. Additionally, their strawberry ice cream contains real, fresh strawberries for an extra burst of flavor.
Debbie’s Snowballs prides itself on being a year-round destination for dessert lovers. While business may slow down during the winter months, the shop remains open throughout the colder season—one of the few local establishments to do so. “Our ice cream is all homemade, every flavor we have is homemade,” Minter emphasized. Along with seasonal offerings like Butter Pecan, the shop also serves frosted coffee, hot cocoa, and regular coffee during the colder months.
For those in search of a sweet treat, Debbie’s Snowballs and Ice Cream provides a range of irresistible options. Whether you’re craving classic vanilla ice cream or an indulgent Oreo shake, everything is crafted with care and made to order.
