AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Totally 80s Ice Cream Shoppe, a popular family-owned business from Salem, is set to open a second location in Austintown. The new shop will be situated on Raccoon Road, conveniently located between Subway and State Farm, next to Wedgewood Pizza.
The original Totally 80s Ice Cream Shoppe opened on East State Street in Salem in April 2023 and quickly became a local favorite. In September, the business expanded its offerings to include breakfast, further attracting customers.
Mike Thorpe, the owner of the ice cream shop, expressed excitement about the expansion into Mahoning County. The new location will be three times the size of the Salem store, with plans to create a family-friendly environment featuring a Lego play area, a Barbie section, and even a giant Lite Brite for children. Additionally, the shop will include a bar for adults to enjoy while keeping an eye on their kids in a designated play area.
Thorpe aims to open the Austintown location by February 1, with his daughter managing the new shop, his wife overseeing operations in Salem, and Thorpe himself balancing time between both locations.
