Bruster’s Real Ice Cream has officially opened its doors in Greece, with the new location situated at 824 Long Pond Road, next to a plaza anchored by the Flight West Wine & Whiskey Bar and the Great American Diner. The shop opened on Monday, December 2, and marks the second Bruster’s in the Rochester area.
Owner Jay Negrin, a 1993 graduate of Greece Athena High School, said the Greece location employs approximately 18 local teenagers. Negrin, who opened his first Bruster’s in Irondequoit in September 2022, is a former Miami resident who returned to the Rochester area to be closer to family. He also owned a hair salon in Miami with his wife, Katie.
The Greece store, which spans 1,747 square feet, is larger than the Irondequoit location by about 300 square feet and features a bigger outdoor seating area for the warmer months. However, as with all Bruster’s locations, there is no indoor seating or indoor ordering. Customers can place orders via a drive-thru with two lanes (each equipped with a lighted menu board) that merge into a single lane for order pickup, or at multiple walk-up windows.
Winter hours at the new location are from noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday, with extended hours until 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Founded in 1989 in Bridgewater, Pennsylvania, Bruster’s operates nearly 200 locations across 22 states, as well as in Guyana and South Korea. The brand offers a rotating selection of about 30 ice cream flavors at any given time, out of a total of 150 recipes in its repertoire.
The only other Bruster’s in the Rochester area is located at 1041 Ridge Road in Webster, though it is owned by a different proprietor.
