CORAL SPRINGS, FL — Larry’s Ice Cream, a beloved fixture in the Coral Springs community for nearly four decades, is inviting residents to join in the festive spirit with a series of free, family-friendly events at its flagship location this holiday season.
Known for its community-centered atmosphere, Larry’s Ice Cream has become a holiday tradition in Coral Springs, attracting crowds of over 1,000 attendees per event. Patrick and Janet McGinnis, who took ownership of the ice cream shop in 2018, have made it a priority to host events that foster a sense of community and bring families together.
“Each event we host is an opportunity to create lasting memories,” Janet McGinnis said. “Our mission is to be the heart of the community, where families can gather, friends can reunite, and everyone can experience joy.”
The schedule of events promises something for all ages, starting with:
Saturday, December 14: Meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse in their festive holiday attire.
Saturday, December 21: Santa will make his grand entrance aboard a Coral Springs Fire Department firetruck.
Saturday, December 25: The store will be open on Christmas Day, offering a sweet spot for holiday cheer.
Larry’s Ice Cream, which originally opened in Coral Springs in 1986, has grown into a well-known South Florida brand. Since purchasing the business, Patrick and Janet have expanded it to include multiple locations: Larry’s Ice Cream & Café in Boca Raton, offering a full menu alongside 48 flavors of ice cream; Larry’s Café at Honda, located at the Coral Springs Auto Mall; and a popular food truck that caters events across the region.
The flagship Coral Springs location remains a local favorite, offering 56 ice cream flavors and a menu inspired by New Jersey boardwalk treats, including funnel cake fries, beignets, and fried Oreos.
Patrick and Janet’s vision for Larry’s Ice Cream is rooted in their own experiences growing up in small-town New Jersey, where they cherished simple pleasures like local pizza and visits to the roller rink. “At Larry’s, we blend the warmth of those memories with a modern, retro-inspired atmosphere,” Janet shared.
In 2023, Patrick left his 30-year career to join Janet in running the business full-time. “We hope to bring back the magic of simpler times and create a future filled with joy, togetherness, and cherished memories,” he said.
Larry’s Ice Cream is open daily, with hours of operation as follows:
Saturday: 12 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Sunday through Thursday: 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Friday: 12 p.m. – 11 p.m.
