With the holiday season in full swing, Blue Bell is offering ice cream enthusiasts nationwide the chance to send their favorite frozen treats to loved ones. But for those hoping to ship ice cream in time for Christmas, Blue Bell is urging customers to act quickly.
To ensure delivery by Christmas Day, Blue Bell recommends placing orders by 11 a.m. CT on December 16 for ground shipping. If expedited shipping is preferred, orders must be submitted by December 21 to guarantee delivery in time for the holidays.
While Blue Bell’s ice cream is available for shipping across the country, including states outside its usual 23-state service area, there are some important considerations. Ice cream deliveries require special care due to the perishable nature of the product. The company uses insulated coolers and dry ice to keep the ice cream frozen throughout the shipping process. Upon arrival, recipients are advised to immediately place the ice cream in the freezer and allow it to temper for optimal texture.
Given that ice cream is a perishable product, Blue Bell emphasizes that gift-givers should ensure the recipient will be home to receive the package. The company is not responsible for packages left unattended or stolen.
For those looking to send a thoughtful holiday gift, Blue Bell offers several shipping options, including four half-gallons, six pints, or four packages of ice cream cups (12 cups per package). Customers can also include a personalized note with their gift. However, the cost of shipping may be a bit of a shock. Ground shipping prices for pints start at $78, while expedited shipping costs $128. Gallons and ice cream cups are priced starting at $128 for ground orders and $178 for expedited shipments. Shipping outside the continental U.S. comes with higher fees: $198 for pints and $248 for larger orders.
Blue Bell notes that the higher prices reflect the special care needed to ship ice cream, including the weight of the product and the shipping materials required to keep it frozen. The company adds that prices will be higher than typical in-store costs due to these factors.
For those who find the prices manageable, Blue Bell is also teasing an upcoming subscription service that will make it even easier to enjoy their signature flavors year-round.
As the holiday season draws closer, those looking to send Blue Bell ice cream as a gift will need to make sure their orders are placed by the upcoming deadlines to ensure timely delivery.
