Noah Kahan has teamed up with Ben & Jerry’s to introduce a special ice cream flavor just in time for the fall season. The 27-year-old musician has created “Northern Latte-tude,” a limited-edition flavor inspired by his song “Northern Attitude.” The new flavor features a maple latte ice cream base, complemented by graham cracker cookie dough and graham cracker pieces, offering a sweet tribute to the artist’s roots in Vermont.
The flavor made its debut during Kahan’s benefit concert on September 19, 2024, in Essex, Vermont, where the musician performed in support of his mental health organization, The Busyhead Project. In an Instagram post, Ben & Jerry’s shared a photo of Kahan performing, the post encouraged followers to learn more and donate to the cause.
A Special Treat for Fans
The following day, Ben & Jerry’s announced that fans who missed the concert could still get a taste of Northern Latte-tude at two local shops in Vermont: Burlington and Waterbury. However, the flavor was available for one day only, and only while supplies lasted.
The collaboration with the iconic ice cream company is a significant moment for Kahan, who expressed his excitement on social media. On X (formerly Twitter), Kahan posted, “F—ing pinch me,” reacting to the release of his very own flavor. He later shared his heartfelt appreciation for his home state, writing on Instagram Story, “Vermont that meant absolutely everything to me. I’ve never felt more at home in my life. Bless this great state and 802 forever.”
Supporting Mental Health with The Busyhead Project
The flavor was created to raise awareness and funds for The Busyhead Project, Kahan’s nonprofit organization aimed at breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. Founded in 2023 and named after his 2019 debut album, Busyhead, the organization provides resources and information to make mental healthcare more accessible. Kahan has been open about his personal struggles with mental health and has committed to using his platform to spark conversations and promote resources for those in need.
In an interview earlier this year with GQ, Kahan reflected on the impact of his music on his fans, saying, “I’m telling you, as a guy, it’s incredibly rare for two men to cry next to each other, and to see that in a crowd is so special.” He added that his music, drawn from his own experiences, resonates particularly with young men, offering a space for emotional expression that is often missing in mainstream culture.
Kahan’s partnership with Ben & Jerry’s not only highlights his growing influence in music and mental health advocacy but also cements his connection to his Vermont roots, where the ice cream company is based.
