TOLEDO, OH — A new Ben & Jerry’s ice cream shop has opened in the Westgate Shopping Plaza, offering an array of flavors and a fresh, modern design that showcases local culture.
The shop, located at 3305 W. Central Ave., Unit A2-35, officially opened its doors to customers with a selection of 32 ice cream flavors, which can be mixed to create up to 96 different combinations. The menu also features ice cream cakes with 64 customizable flavor options, along with sundaes, milkshakes, brownies, cookies, and a special banana split brownie.
Owner Vivian Murriel expressed excitement about bringing the premium ice cream experience to the Toledo area, saying, “I truly felt that the Toledo area needed the experience of premium ice cream.”
In addition to classic ice cream offerings, the store is committed to catering to a variety of dietary needs. Murriel emphasized that the shop serves gluten-free options, accommodates nut and peanut allergies, and offers non-dairy and vegan flavors. “We also cater to vegans and have vegan flavors that are absolutely amazing,” she added.
What sets this Ben & Jerry’s location apart is its distinctive design. According to a company spokesperson, the Toledo store is the first in the U.S. to feature Ben & Jerry’s new “future store” concept. This design enhances customer experience by providing flexibility with ordering, whether in-store, through delivery apps, or for catered events. The store also features a local mural, created in collaboration with a Vermont-based designer and Toledo partners, that highlights Toledo’s iconic attractions, including the Glass City River Wall and Jeep heritage.
“This store is one of fewer than 10 locations in the country with this new design,” the spokesperson said. “It’s one of only three Ben & Jerry’s shops in Ohio.”
The shop will be open Sunday to Thursday from noon to 9 p.m., and Friday to Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. For more details and directions, customers can visit the store’s website.
A corporate statement from Ben & Jerry’s praised the mural, created by renowned folk artist Woody Jackson, for capturing what makes Toledo unique and contributing to the shop’s special atmosphere.
For ice cream lovers in Toledo, the new Ben & Jerry’s shop promises a one-of-a-kind experience that combines delicious flavors, a commitment to dietary inclusivity, and a celebration of local culture.
