Greenville, SC — A popular ice cream franchise that gained national attention after its appearance on the hit TV show Shark Tank is set to open its first location in Greenville. Crispy Cones, known for its European-inspired pastry dough cones, will open at 1143 Woodruff Road, with a grand opening planned for early February.
The brand has seen rapid growth since securing a deal with business mogul Barbara Corcoran on Shark Tank in March 2023. According to a company press release, Crispy Cones has signed franchising agreements for 80 new locations across the country, with plans to open a total of 100 locations by 2025.
Founded by Idaho natives Jeremy and Kaitlyn Carlson, Crispy Cones specializes in cone-shaped pastries that originated in the Czech Republic. The cones are grilled rotisserie-style, then coated with cinnamon and sugar or a variety of specialty powders. Customers can choose from a selection of spreads, gourmet soft-serve ice cream, and an array of toppings.
The Carlsons, who introduced the concept to their hometown of Rigby, Idaho, began serving the unique cones after Jeremy discovered the treat while traveling. The success of their small-town operation led to the franchise’s rapid expansion, including locations in Idaho, Utah, Arizona, and Florida.
Crispy Cones’ appearance on Shark Tank marked a pivotal moment in the company’s journey. During their pitch, the Carlsons secured a $200,000 investment from Barbara Corcoran in exchange for a 20% stake in the business, propelling their national expansion.
With continued growth on the horizon, Crispy Cones is quickly becoming a notable name in the dessert industry, and the upcoming Greenville location is expected to be another successful step in the brand’s nationwide reach.
