SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A new ice cream soda shop, Scoops Udder Place, is set to open its doors in downtown Sioux City this week, offering a nostalgic trip back to the classic soda shops of yesteryear. Located inside the RE/MAX City Centre—formerly the historic Riviera Theatre—the shop aims to blend old-school charm with modern-day appeal.
The shop’s retro-inspired interior is designed to evoke the ambiance of traditional soda fountains, complete with homemade ice cream, milkshakes, and other “nostalgic treats” crafted from scratch daily. Owner Jason Schiffer expressed excitement about sharing the shop’s premium offerings with the community.
“We make all of our ice cream from scratch daily and can’t wait to share our premium homemade products with Sioux City,” Schiffer said in a statement.
The opening of Scoops Udder Place is part of a broader effort to revitalize downtown Sioux City. Jeff Carlson, a representative of the RE/MAX City Centre, praised the shop’s concept, noting its alignment with the vision of creating destination experiences that honor the area’s historic roots.
“This concept is the essence of the hopeful vision for the RE/MAX City Centre. Bringing destination experiences to downtown Sioux City, while celebrating its historic past,” Carlson said. “I am utterly impressed, pun intended, with the attention to detail from the Scoops team in creating this throwback concept… This is something Siouxlanders and visitors alike are going to love!”
Scoops Udder Place is scheduled to open on Thursday, Jan. 9, and is expected to become a beloved spot for locals and tourists seeking a taste of nostalgia in the heart of Sioux City.
