Southern Pines, NC – January 6, 2025 – Handel’s Ice Cream, a beloved brand renowned for its handmade ice cream since 1945, is set to open its newest location in Southern Pines, North Carolina. The grand opening celebration will take place on Thursday, January 9, at 1784 Old Morganton Rd., featuring music, giveaways, sweet treats, and a chance for the first 100 guests to win free ice cream for a year*.
The Southern Pines location will be operated by Dr. James Patrick Flanagan and his wife, Denise, alongside their three children, Shannon, Sarah, and Matthew, who are co-owners of the franchise. The Flanagan family, deeply rooted in the Southern Pines community for 27 years, is excited to bring Handel’s time-honored traditions and high-quality ice cream to Moore County.
“Handel’s has been a cherished part of our family traditions, from visits back home to Youngstown to Ohio State game days in Columbus,” said Dr. Flanagan. “After 20 years of considering this opportunity, we knew Southern Pines was the perfect place to share this iconic brand with our community.”
The 1,400-square-foot walk-up shop will offer pick-up, delivery, and catering services. Winter hours will run from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and noon to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with seasonal adjustments expected.
