Main Street Creamery Reopens as Silver Spoon Ice Cream & Sweets in Washington, Missouri

by Alice

Washington, Missouri – A beloved ice cream shop in Franklin County has undergone a transformation, reopening under new ownership and a fresh name. Main Street Creamery, located at 110 W. Main Street in downtown Washington, closed its doors in December to allow for renovations and a rebranding. On Friday, January 17, the shop will reopen as Silver Spoon Ice Cream & Sweets, marking the fourth location of the growing St. Louis-based ice cream brand.

The new owner, David Staral, who operates three other Silver Spoon Ice Cream shops in the St. Louis area, is bringing his award-winning ice cream and signature treats to Washington. The additional locations are situated in Chesterfield, Eureka, and Wildwood, with plans to expand further into Jefferson County this spring with a new store in House Springs.

The transition to Silver Spoon Ice Cream has been in the works since last fall, when former owner Nick Kiser announced the change in a Facebook post. While the shop’s exterior remains familiar, guests will notice immediate updates to the interior, including a refreshed color scheme featuring teal and pink accents and vintage ice cream parlor-inspired decor. Further changes, such as updated seating arrangements, are planned for later in the spring or summer.

The menu, however, is where the real excitement lies. Silver Spoon Ice Cream will offer 24 flavors of its world award-winning ice cream, including 12 staple flavors available year-round and 12 seasonal rotating options. The shop will also cater to diverse dietary needs with a selection of dairy-free and vegan flavors.

Patrons can enjoy their ice cream in a variety of ways, from classic cups and freshly made waffle cones to indulgent shakes, banana splits, and hot fudge sundaes. A standout item is Staral’s signature creation, ice cream nachos, which features waffle cone pieces topped with three scoops of ice cream, Ghirardelli chocolate and caramel sauces, brownie bites, cookie dough, whipped cream, and sprinkles.

For those who prefer sampling over committing to a single flavor, the shop offers ice cream flights—six small scoops of different flavors, perfect for tasting. Additionally, Silver Spoon Ice Cream sells custom-made ice cream pies and cakes, available in regular or chocolate graham cracker crusts, all crafted to order.

The reopening of the Washington location marks a new chapter for the historic ice cream shop, blending its cherished legacy with the innovative offerings of Silver Spoon Ice Cream. With its award-winning flavors, creative treats, and welcoming atmosphere, the shop is poised to become a favorite destination for ice cream lovers in Franklin County and beyond.
