Disney California Adventure continues to bring back beloved menu items, with the latest being the PB&J Split at Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream. Following the return of Polystarch Puffbread and Steak Frites at Disneyland Park, this whimsical dessert has made its comeback, delighting guests with its nostalgic flavors and generous portions.
Originally introduced in May 2023 as a seasonal item, the PB&J Split has returned with a slightly revised name but retains all its original ingredients. Priced at $11.29, this indulgent treat features a trio of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream, layered with peanut butter sauce, hot fudge, strawberry topping, peanuts, whipped cream, and waffle cone pieces. Served in a clear cup, the dessert is as visually appealing as it is delicious.
While the name has been simplified to “PB&J Split,” the dish still embodies the essence of its original title, the PB&J Banana Split Sundae. The three scoops of ice cream are complemented by rich layers of fudge, strawberry, and peanut butter, with waffle cone pieces adding a satisfying crunch. The strawberry topping serves as the “jelly” component, completing the PB&J theme.
Our taste test revealed a mixed but overall positive experience. While the peanut butter sauce was noted to be of average quality, the combination of flavors and textures—especially when mixed together—created a delightful treat. The waffle cone pieces added a welcome crunch, enhancing each bite. The dessert’s large portion size makes it ideal for sharing, despite its deceptively compact appearance in photos.
