Mike Crowe, the third-generation owner and director of product development, expressed excitement about the new venture. In an email to The Squamish Chief, he noted that the Britannia Beach area “really feels like home” to the company. Crowe emphasized the region’s historical charm, scenic views of Howe Sound, and its position as a popular tourist route as factors that made the location ideal for their first retail expansion beyond Ontario.

The Britannia Beach store will feature a wide selection of 36 ice cream flavors, including classic options like chocolate and mint chip, as well as unique offerings such as moose tracks, salty caramel truffle, and dockside cappuccino. Additionally, the store will serve custom-made milkshakes, packaged ice cream, and various dietary options, including gluten-free, reduced-sugar, lactose-free, and dairy-free sorbets.

Kawartha Dairy’s ice cream is made from fresh milk and cream sourced daily from local farms in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, where the company first began in 1937. Crowe highlighted the company’s commitment to quality, stating that the milk and cream used in their ice cream are transformed into the finished product within a day of delivery.

Family-owned and operated for over 87 years, Kawartha Dairy continues to be led by the second, third, and fourth generations of the Crowe family. Crowe invited the community to create lasting memories by visiting the new Britannia Beach location.

In addition to the new store, Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream will soon be available in scoop shops and grocery stores throughout Western Canada.
