Emma Taylor, the owner of the popular ice cream parlor Milk Sugar Love, is expanding her beloved Jersey City business with a new location at the Jersey Shore. The new shop will open in Asbury Park at 1319 Memorial Drive, with a targeted opening in early June.
The new store, which will be three times the size of the original, will feature a walk-up window, indoor seating, and a vintage-style counter seating area, reflecting Taylor’s love for classic, nostalgic vibes.
Taylor, a long-time fan of ice cream, recalls spending summers in Ocean City indulging in her favorite treat. The new location comes after years of success at her flagship store in Jersey City. Taylor is excited about the move to Asbury Park, having relocated to the area two and a half years ago. She finds the small business community there welcoming, and she’s drawn to the area’s growing food scene, which features an array of new openings.
In fact, Milk Sugar Love’s unique flavors have already gained considerable recognition. The shop was named the second-best ice cream parlor in New Jersey last summer by nj.com. The Asbury Park location will offer more kitchen space, allowing Taylor to experiment with additional flavors and bring back items she couldn’t previously accommodate, such as ice cream sandwiches featuring cookie dough, babka, brownies, and French macarons.
Looking to the future, Taylor expresses her desire for Milk Sugar Love to become a staple across New Jersey. She hopes to expand further, with Hoboken being a potential next target.
Until the new shop opens, ice cream lovers can continue to visit the flagship store at 19 McWilliams Place in Jersey City.
