Shark Tank India has returned for its fourth season, airing on Sony Entertainment Television and streaming on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium. As usual, the show features aspiring entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas to a panel of investors, hoping to secure funding. In the latest episode, entrepreneur Kiran Shah introduced his innovative no-sugar ice cream brand, Go Zero, and sought a Rs 1 crore investment in exchange for equity.
Go Zero, part of the well-known Apsara Ice Creams brand, has gained popularity over the years with its sugar-free ice cream offerings. Apsara Ice Creams, a prominent ice cream chain in Mumbai, has established a strong market presence. With the growing demand for zero-sugar products, Shah saw an opportunity to expand, launching Go Zero as a new venture. He valued his ice cream brand at Rs 100 crore and asked for Rs 1 crore in exchange for just 1% equity.
Shah’s pitch caught the attention of all the Sharks, including Anupam Mittal, who noted his personal connection to the product due to being lactose intolerant. Shah outlined an ambitious goal of generating Rs 33 crore in revenue within the year, signaling his confidence in the brand’s potential growth.
Anupam Mittal, though impressed with Shah’s vision and considered him a good “founder-market fit,” raised concerns over the financial sustainability of the venture. He pointed out that Rs 1 crore might not be enough to fuel the brand’s long-term growth and suggested that Shah would likely exhaust his funds quickly. Mittal then made an offer of Rs 2 crore for a 5% equity stake, conditional on Go Zero reaching Rs 10 crore in revenue soon.
Meanwhile, Aman Gupta expressed interest in investing Rs 1 crore for a 2% equity stake. However, Shah countered with a request for a 1.5% stake, which Gupta readily accepted, noting that the difference between the two percentages was minimal for him.
The episode highlighted the growing trend for healthier, sugar-free alternatives in the food industry and demonstrated the dynamic negotiations between entrepreneurs and investors on Shark Tank India.
Season 4 of Shark Tank India features an all-star panel of investors, including Anupam Mittal (Shaadi.com), Aman Gupta (boAt Lifestyle), Vineeta Singh (SUGAR Cosmetics), Namita Thapar (Emcure Pharmaceuticals), Peyush Bansal (Lenskart), Kunal Bahl (Snapdeal), and Ritesh Agarwal (OYO), among others.
