Mary’s Mountain Cookies is set to open its second location in Sioux Falls, this time in the space previously occupied by Cookie Co. The new shop will be situated in a retail center at the intersection of 69th Street and Cliff Avenue.
The McElroy family, who first opened the popular cookie and ice cream business three years ago at The Cascade at Falls Park, are bringing their successful formula to the city’s south side. Franchisees Becky and Dave McElroy say they had long considered a second location but were unsure until the opportunity arose to move into the space, which is already suited for a cookie shop.
“We’ve talked about a second location and just weren’t sure, but with it basically being set up for a cookie shop, it made it handy,” Becky McElroy shared.
The new location, located at 6004 S. Cliff Ave., will mirror the original shop’s offerings. Customers can expect to find around 21 flavors of cookies, including seasonal varieties, along with hand-scooped ice cream, cookie ice cream sandwiches, and decorated cookie cakes. The McElroys will also continue to operate their popular “cookie bus,” available for both public and private events.
The couple plans to open the south-side store in March or April, pending equipment arrival. Hiring for the new location will begin in the coming months, with training likely to take place at the original shop to ensure a smooth transition for staff.
“We may train a little downtown and then move some staff so they’re not totally in shock when they get here,” McElroy explained.
The opening of this second store marks an exciting milestone for the growing cookie business, further cementing Mary’s Mountain Cookies as a beloved local brand.
