While the exact cause of the contamination is unclear, the recall involves 40-ounce containers of the product, identified by the UPC code 888670048078. The affected containers have expiration dates ranging from December 4, 2024, to January 15, 2025.
The FDA classified this as a Class II recall, meaning that while there is a risk of temporary or medically reversible health effects, the probability of serious adverse consequences is remote. The recall was first announced on December 11, 2024, and formally designated on January 13, 2025.
Consumers who have purchased the affected yogurt are advised to contact HP Hood customer service or return the product to their place of purchase for a refund. This recall follows a similar action by HP Hood in September 2024, when it recalled Lactaid products due to trace amounts of tree nuts.
