Cream o’ Galloway, a beloved ice cream brand from the South of Scotland, will be relocating its production facility 150 miles south to North Yorkshire. The shift follows the brand’s acquisition by Brymor a year ago in a move described by the new owners as a “just in time” strategy to safeguard the future of the popular brand.
After the acquisition, production continued at the original farm near Gatehouse of Fleet throughout 2024. However, Brymor has now confirmed that the existing site was “tired” and required significant investment. As a result, manufacturing will be consolidated at Brymor’s facility outside Masham, North Yorkshire.
The company emphasized that this move would allow Cream o’ Galloway to benefit from upgraded, more efficient equipment and the environmentally-friendly resources Brymor has developed over the past four years. The brand’s distribution will remain at Ashland’s in Twynholm, and its ice cream parlour will relocate to the nearby Cocoabean Company.
Founded in 1994, Cream o’ Galloway expanded with a play area in 1995 and a visitor center in 2000. However, its woodland playground closed at the end of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Following the sale to Brymor last year, the brand’s production shift marks the next chapter in its evolution.
