Cream O’Galloway Ice Cream Production to Relocate to Yorkshire, New Owners Announce

by Alice

In a statement released today, the new owners of Cream O’Galloway Ice Cream confirmed that production of the beloved brand will be relocated from its birthplace near Gatehouse of Fleet in Dumfries and Galloway to Yorkshire. The decision follows the acquisition of Cream O’Galloway by Brymor Ice Cream in January 2024.

Brymor, a well-established manufacturer of premium ice cream, has been operating for 40 years from its farm-based site in Masham, North Yorkshire. The company specializes in crafting high-quality dairy ice cream using locally sourced ingredients. The acquisition of Cream O’Galloway came in response to the previous owners’ announcement in 2023 that the business would be closing. Brymor’s timely intervention saved the iconic brand from being lost.

Over the course of 2024, Brymor continued production at the original farm to better understand the brand’s operations, its loyal customer base, and its manufacturing processes. However, the company determined that the existing facilities and equipment at the Dumfries and Galloway location were outdated and in need of significant investment. As a result, production will now be consolidated at Brymor’s Yorkshire site, which boasts modern equipment and sustainable practices developed over the past four years.

With over four decades of expertise in ice cream production, Brymor intends to maintain the high standards that Cream O’Galloway is known for, while improving efficiency and sustainability. The brand will continue to produce real dairy ice cream using fresh whole milk and high-quality ingredients, ensuring that the distinctive Cream O’Galloway range remains available to customers.

Although manufacturing will no longer take place at its original site, the Cream O’Galloway brand will still be distributed from Ashland’s, Twynholm, located near Castle Douglas in Scotland. This location will continue to serve customers across Scotland, Northumberland, and Cumbria.

Additionally, the Cream O’Galloway ice cream parlour has now been incorporated into The Cocoabean Company’s facilities. Local customers and visitors can continue to enjoy the full range of ice cream at this new venue, which also offers a variety of events and chocolate-based treats.

Brymor’s team expressed their commitment to maintaining the legacy of the Cream O’Galloway brand and looks forward to working closely with customers, suppliers, and partners throughout 2025.
