Salt & Straw, the popular Pacific Northwest-based ice cream brand, has confirmed plans to open a new scoop shop in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. The family-run business, known for its unique flavors and collaborations with local partners, will hire approximately 20 people from the area to operate the new location.
While the exact grand opening date has not yet been disclosed, the new shop will be situated on Queen Anne Avenue North.
“We’re thrilled to bring Salt & Straw to Queen Anne, a neighborhood with such a rich history and a strong sense of community,” said Kim Malek, co-founder and CEO, in a statement. “We can’t wait to be a part of the Queen Anne community and bring a little extra joy, one scoop at a time.”
Founded 13 years ago by cousins Kim and Tyler Malek, Salt & Straw is known for its creative ice cream offerings and its collaborations with iconic Washington-based brands, including Rachel’s Ginger Beer, Wunderground Coffee, Fran’s Chocolate, and Métier Brewing.
With four other locations in Washington—Seattle’s Ballard and Capitol Hill neighborhoods, Totem Lake, and Vancouver—the Queen Anne shop will be the company’s latest expansion in the region.
