Charlotte residents can soon indulge in the creamy delights of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, as the popular New York-based brand prepares to open its first scoop shop in the state. The new location, set to open in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood, marks another milestone in Van Leeuwen’s expansion, with more shops planned across the country this year.
Known for its wide array of both classic and inventive flavors, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream began as a humble ice cream truck in 2008. Since then, the company has grown to operate over 50 scoop shops nationwide, with its pints also available in grocery stores and available for nationwide shipping.
The Charlotte shop will feature a diverse menu of ice cream flavors, including vegan options, with tempting toppings such as dark chocolate fudge brownie, peanut butter brownie honeycomb, cookies and cream, mint chip, and more. Fans can also enjoy specialty treats like milkshakes, ice cream sandwiches, and chocolate chip cookies.
Though an official opening date has not been set, the new scoop shop is expected to welcome customers later this year, bringing a new sweet option to the Queen City.
